Just above the bougainvillea shrouded entrance to Cas Gasi sits one of the most lovely and coveted suites in the hotel. In Cas Gasi’s previous incarnation as a farmhouse, this room was an open terrace where tomatoes, sausages and cheese were hung to dry. Today it is home to a luxury suite with the same remarkable view it has enjoyed for centuries.
The pink blush of bougainvillea peeps through the window, exposed Sabina wood beams hand hewn so long ago and lovingly restored, the plush velvet of the damask rose sofa gently complementing the foliage makes for an ideal spot for an afternoon snooze.
The elegant Cas Gasi lawn and rose orchard stretch outside the window, their petals reflecting the warming sun alongside the fragrant jasmine covered trellis, with lush vegetable gardens to the right. Beyond are the lush wooded hills creating a serene audience to the gentle life of the hotel. This room has the perfect southeast orientation, collecting the light in winter and keeping the high summer sun at bay.
A headboard dressed in a traditional Dutch pattern crowns the sprawling bed. The handmade tiles underfoot are cool to the touch and pleasantly textured. The thick walls of the original farmhouse mean this room is very peaceful and at night the blooms of the Galan de Noche (night groom) flower below the window release an intoxicating scent into the night sky.
Comfortable, romantic and very luxurious, it is indeed one of the hotel’s sweetest suites.
